The Management and Staff needs to pay attention as to how they handle their patrons, both consciously and subconsciously. We don’t know if it was intentional or not, however, this type of segregation is definitely perceived as racism. These patrons were also African American like us. Just before we received our bill, our hostess escorted four new patrons pass numerous empty tables and booths and seated them directly behind us. What was noticeable is that they were all Caucasian. As I walked through the front of the restaurant, I noticed that the new diners consisted of one single individual, six couples, and one family seated for a meal. We thought we were walking into fun waterside grill and was greeted, instead, by a disapproving hostess who challenged me about my service dog by saying "Really?" in place of hello! She asked for proof (against ADA regulations, btw) and said she didn't know where to seat us! I shared ADA information that my dog is required access the same as a wheelchair and that "papers" for proof are only required in certain housing situations. We, my husband, service dog and I, were looking for a restaurant close to the house we just put an offer on, to celebrate.
