This was the ONLY worker who was polite and respectful to our group throughout this whole entire experience. At this time, another worker stepped in and said she would ask the tour guides and that it could reasonably be arranged. The same woman snapped at us and told us they couldn't control where people sit and we would have to sit separately. We asked them that since we were paying as if we were a group, if they could ask the tour guides if we could all sit together. (Additionally, we checked our bill today and they had the audacity to charge us twice for the gratuity). Additionally, since we were a group of 8+, we were told that we had an auto- gratuity of 15% per person to pay despite the fact that we all paid for our reservation separately and we were not renting out a private tour, but because we didn't want to miss our giraffe tour, we quickly paid that fee. Additionally, my friend had stated she called the staff once in November and another time earlier this week to confirm that her ticket was purchased, but despite getting verbal confirmation that she had a purchased ticket, they still made her purchase ANOTHER ticket. ![]() This would have been fine except this staff member was incredibly rude and condescending to us. When we first arrived to the meeting place, we were greeted by a not-so-pleasant staff member who informed us that a person in our party did not have a ticket. I was incredibly disappointed with the overall experience and attitude of the staff at this place. ![]() TLDR this tour is a complete waste of money and time. I thought the entire trip was very enjoyable, and plan to go back with my husband and friends. The wines offered (3 at each stop-starting with whites then the reds) did not disappoint (they also offered more if interested). At the end of our tour we saw the most beautiful view of the surrounding hills (just spectacular!) Each tour lasts about an hour and a half long. We stopped for several wine tastings, and learned about the animals on the property. Our driver Ruby and guide Flint were very funny, and made the trip more enjoyable. The vehicles are open air trucks with comfortable seating for 25 or 30 persons. My best friend booked the tour, so not sure which one we went on (but it was the one with a yellow wrist band). I wasn't sure what to expect (wine not tasty, animals from afar, and a bumpy ride), but was extremely happy with what occurred. I went to "Malibu wine tasting safari" with my friends for the the first time as a gift for my 63rd birthday. If looking for an enjoyable afternoon, I highly recommend this adventure. However, I would consider going again with out-of-town guests if I wanted to wow them with the views. Hopefully they add a shuttle soon! We ended up Ubering to a Wine Tasting Room on PCH instead. They don't offer a shuttle to the Wine Tasting Room which is a poor decision because we were definitely ready to drink and spend more money after our tour. Ubers are hard to come by in Malibu and most Ride Apps will decline going all the way to Malibu for a 1/2 mile trip and it's too dangerous to walk on Mulholland. We Ubered because we don't drink and drive and we also thought we would be able to drink more before or after. The other thing you should note is that you can't buy any wine! Where they pick you up for the Safari is about a. You are purely getting a tour of a beautiful private property and honestly a few sales pitches to hosts events on site. However, if you are expecting to actually learn about their wine process, the grapes, anything really related to knowledge of wine - don't expect it from Malibu Wines. The wine is decent and you get to try a good variety. We did the Explorer Tour and we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the giraffe as well as see the zebras, alpacas and a few other animals. ![]() ![]() Tickets are on sale now.The property was absolutely beautiful and you get amazing views of the Malibu Hills. Malibu Wine Safaris' Malibu Lights: Haunted Nights tours run October 4 through November 3. Too spooky? This iteration runs select Thursdays to Sundays through the start of November, but will flip to more festive holiday lights and themes soon after we've already got our fingers crossed for some Malibu mulled wine in winter. These 21+ tours run approximately 90 minutes and cost $55 per person for six tastings, but if you really want to maximize your spooky wine time-and honestly, who among us wouldn't?-there's a deluxe tasting at $75 per person, which includes an additional tour stop and two extra tastings. It's a good thing you'll be imbibing some liquid courage as you progress through the tour, because the Safaris team has been busy turning its usual stops into "otherworldly dimensions, haunted forests, psychedelic sci-fi tunnels and beyond"-and yes, to get those tastings of Malibu Family Wines, you'll have to leave the truck.
